Boiler Servicing
In this section we will explain a bit more about what you can expect when we attend to service your gas boiler and the benefits that servicing the boiler can bring.
It is recommended that gas boilers are serviced annually to check they are running safely and to try to prevent expensive breakdowns, especially in the winter period when the boiler is needed most!
What is checked on a boiler service?
All boilers will be serviced to the manufacturers instructions so each boiler will be serviced slightly differently to the next. But below is a list of some of the parts checked on a boiler service.
Room sealed boilers:
Combustion readings, fan pressure tests and condition, flue routes and terminals, heat exchangers, safety devices, ventilation, pipework, controls, ignition, gas pressures/ gas rates, burners, case and burner seal, system filters, condense traps and inhibitor levels.
Some manufacturers require burner seals to be replaced every 3 - 5 years. This is not included in a standard boiler service so if this is known to be required please let us know prior to the visit.
Additional checks required on an open flued boiler:
Flue flow test, spillage test, room ventilation checks.
If you have any particular questions please let us know prior to the visit and we'll be happy to answer them!
If you service the boiler annually we can make sure the boiler is working to its optimum level, saving you money on your bills! Also eventually if not serviced the condense trap will block causing ignition issues and can become costly when water backs up where it shouldn't. Pressure vessels will also eventually go flat causing the system to lose pressure regularly and could make the pressure relief valve faulty and cause a costly repair. This is just to name a few.
